Pre-Qualification
is about a 10-minute process (online or over the phone) where you provide the best information you have available about your credit and your finances. You will receive an informal spending amount that you qualify for; however this is an estimate of what you will probably be able to borrow and is not a confirmation.
Pre-Approval
is a thorough review of your income and expenses that requires your account representative to review certain documents such as pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements and a full credit check. If you are approved for a certain loan program, you will receive a formal letter of approval from the lender stating the amount that you will be able to borrow. We will submit this letter with your purchase offer to demonstrate to the seller that you are a strong buyer, as it will be unlikely for you to have problems getting your loan processed.
